Institute of economics, energy and environment, Tsinghua university founded in 1980, is a university-level research institute of Tsinghua University. It is the earliest research team in energy and climate change among Chinese universities, and is one of the first institutions in China can confer doctor's degree. It has doctoral program and postdoctoral research station in management science and engineering, and its Management Science and Engineering is a national key discipline.
It has undertaken a lot of high-profile projects under the framework of National Key Technologies R & D Program, National Science and Technology Support Program，the National Key Basic Research Program(the 973 Program), National Key Science and Technology R & D Program, Key and Major Programs of China's National Natural Science Foundation, Major Program of China’s National Social Science Foundation and so on.
Now, there are 25 full-time researchers and more than 30 doctoral students and 10 master students, work or study here. It received the second prize (two times) and third prize of the State Science and Technology Advancement Award, and the first prize of Outstanding Research Achievements of Institutes of Higher Education (Humanities and Social Sciences).
